ACE Report
Ammunition, Casualties, Equipment Report
The ACE Report is typically submitted after contact, upon occupation of an objective, or at prescribed sustainment intervals. It is the fastest way for a commander to assess remaining combat power across subordinate units.
Format
UNIT: [Callsign]
DTG: [DDHHMMZMMYYYY]
AMMUNITION:
GREEN = >75% basic load
AMBER = 50–75% basic load
RED = 25–49% basic load
BLACK = <25% basic load
CASUALTIES:
WIA: [#] (URGENT / PRIORITY / ROUTINE)
KIA: [#]
MISSING: [#]
EQUIPMENT:
GREEN = Fully mission capable
AMBER = Limited mission capable
RED = Not mission capable
Basic Load
Each unit's SOP defines the "basic load" — the standard ammunition allocation per weapon system for a given operation (e.g., 210 rounds 5.56 per rifleman, 4× grenades, etc.). The ACE Report is always measured against the unit's basic load, not an absolute number.
Commander's Use
An ACE roll-up across all subordinate elements tells the commander whether to continue the mission, consolidate, or request resupply before the next phase. A company-level ACE report reaching higher within 10 minutes of actions on the objective is a doctrinal standard in many formations.
Relationship to SALUTE
The ACE Report addresses friendly status. The SALUTE Report (Size, Activity, Location, Unit, Time, Equipment) addresses enemy contact information. Both are submitted after contact but serve different purposes — do not conflate them.
